REMEMBERING THEM ...

HOWEVER LONG

Years rumble along,

A hundred years gone.

All those who knew you

Now followed you on.

All you young men,

Brave and strong.

Not giving your lives

Bur having them stolen.

For who would give their life away,

for something in which they had no say?

Who would lose, if they could choose?

Leaving your shadow

To haunt the hearts

Of them that loved you

for however long.

Fresh-faced young men

Laughing, joking,

Fighting, choking.

Crying.

If those cries could be heard

Amidst the guns

The mud and the blood

They would surely flood our ears with pain

With shame

Become pride

A century on.

And all that they gave

Now wasted and gone

As the years tumble on

More war after war,

Fighting strong

Young men still dying

Choking and crying

for however long.

REMEMBERING YOU TODAY.

THANK YOU
