(I'm pulling no punches here! But if you do not see, you do not know.)

Abortion in England, Scotland and Wales, was made legal in 1967. David Steel, the then leader of the Liberal Party, proposed a new bill to Parliament, which was passed. And he promised then that we would never have 'Abortion on Demand'. Really? No, no - there would have to be two doctors to agree to every abortion. And abortion would be determined on the unviability of the embryo, (deformity, genetic illness, etc.), the mother's physical ability to carry and give birth to the child without endangering her own life, or the mother's psychological state of mind. Really?

The law has not changed since then. But does that criteria still exist? Legally it does, but in reality, I think not!

As far back as 1974, when I was hoping to be pregnant - and couldn't wait to see if I was (no 'home testing kits' then - you had to wait for three months for a doctor's confirmation) I went to a clinic to have my urine tested. It was positive! I was thrilled! But before I could convey my joy to the medical staff, I was offered a consultation about having an abortion! (I've never forgotten the shock on their faces when I said that I wanted this baby!)

Since 1967 (50 years!) Nine Million abortions have been carried out. That is, (if my maths is correct . . . ?) 180,000 abortions per year since then. (493 per day!)

YES! One-hundred-and-eighty-thousand people haven't been born, every year since 1967! Isn't that just mind-blowing? These people would have been our nurses, our doctors, our plumbers, our politicians, our bus-drivers, our builders, our cake-makers, our car mechanics, our fashion designers, our florists, our brickies. Some may even have been our friends. Our confidantes, our partners - the loves of our lives.

Who knows . . . ? We will never know just what we missed by their murder.

And I make no apology for calling the end of their living, murder!

Now, I'm not a strict, fanatical, anti-abortionist. There are some circumstances where I think that abortion is the right, and only, answer to a huge problem. But I do believe that we should never condone the killing of children just because they are 'inconvenient' for the mother, at that time in her life. But that's what's happening now!

Apart from the moral imperatives, abortion in the UK is costing the National Health Service an estimated £118 million per year! Of this, £1 million is spent, per week, (£52 million per year!) giving women repeat abortions. And some women have up to 9 abortions in their lives! For God's sake, I can understand one mistake - but NINE . . .?

NEITHER IS IT CONTRACEPTION!

And the Government is now going to add to that sum, by funding abortion to women from Northern Ireland, on the NHS, to the tune of a further £1 million per year.)

In this country, women can have abortions up to the 24th week of their pregnancy.

Up to 14 weeks gestation £ 650

14 to 19 weeks gestation £ 800 (with sedation)

19 to 24 weeks gestation £1,900 (with sedation or general anesthesia)

METHODS

The Morning-After Pill

This consists of a high dosage of female hormones - the same hormones found in the normal contraceptive pill. It is taken within 72 hours of sex, and operates as a contraceptive by preventing or delaying ovulation. The possibility that it may produce an abortion arises from the Morning-After Pill's second method of operation. In this method it acts on the lining of the womb to prevent a fertilised egg implanting. Since the fertilised egg cannot 'stick', it is expelled from the womb.

Mifepristone

Mifepristone is a common abortion drug used in the first half of pregnancy. This process involves various stages, spanning several days. After an internal examination, Mifepristone is

administered, followed two days later by a dose of Prostaglandin. The womb lining should start to break down a few hours later. A significant problem with this abortion drug is the fact that the woman will 'deliver' the dead foetus herself. While the baby will be small, it will often have clearly formed human features and be recognisable to the mother as a small baby.

THIRTEEN WEEKS OLD

Suction Aspiration (Vacuum Curettage)

This technique is often used during the first trimester of pregnancy. A cannula is inserted into the uterus, attached via a tube to a suction machine. The force of the suction pulls the baby apart - dismembering it in order to allow the body parts to fit through the tube and into the collection jar.

Dilation and Evacuation

This procedure, generally used from the fifteenth week of pregnancy onward, requires the use of forceps, rather than simple suction, as the baby's bones are more developed. The forceps are used to dismember the baby's body, using a combination of twisting and pulling to remove parts of the baby, and pull them out piece by piece. As the skull has grown and hardened by this time, it will often need to be crushed by force with the forceps before it can be removed from the uterus.

Doesn't this just sicken you?

Because it sickens me!

And why doesn't it sicken the doctors and nurses who carry out these procedures? Why aren't they saying, "No, I won't - I can't do this!" And these are the people we trust with our lives, and the lives of our loved-ones. Have they no morals, no ethics, no empathy no emotion?

Surely they can't be saving lives one day, and do this the next?

Chemical Instillation

Otherwise known as 'Saline Amniocentesis' abortion. This procedure is carried out after 16 weeks of pregnancy, when enough fluid has accumulated in the amniotic fluid sac surrounding the baby. A needle is inserted through the mother's abdomen and 50 - 250 mls. of amniotic fluid is withdrawn and replaced with a solution of concentrated salt. The baby swallows the salt and is poisoned. This chemical solution also causes burning and deterioration of the baby's sensitive skin. Usually, after about an hour, the baby dies. The mother goes into labour 33 - 35 hours after Instillation and delivers a dead, burned baby.

We will never get rid of abortion. Not now that it's 'out there'. But we really should think very hard about gestation stages, and question our consciences - and our hearts.

Twenty-four weeks is way too late. (What pain does that baby suffer before it dies? Pro-abortionists say none, but I doubt that very much!) If we must put up with abortion, we really must reduce the legal, allowed time - so that we're aborting just cells, or at the most, an embryo, (up to eight weeks old). But definitely NOT a 24-week-old, almost fully-formed, viable human-being, who - with all the medical advances in pediatric care that we've had since 1967 - could survive, given the love and care that it needs.

ALIVE, WANTED, LOVED, 24-WEEK-OLD BABY

It seems utterly nonsensical (and unbelievable!) to me that in a Special Care Baby Unit you could have doctors and nurses working flat-out to help a 24-week-old baby survive and live, yet just down the corridor another doctor would be purposefully, and brutally, killing another 24-week-old baby. It doesn't make any medical or moral sense! The only sense it makes is that one baby is wanted and one is not. But is that enough reason for this horrific infanticide?

We have to be asking ourselves, 'What the hell are we doing? Where is this taking us? Where are we going?'

The next legalised excuse for abortion will be gender. We will be able to choose a boy or a girl just because we can. (If that doesn't happen, already . . . ? And, sadly, I believe that it might! ) And where will all this stop? Designer babies?

Never mind the cost. The slaughter. The murder!

This week, the media has made a lot of our fifty years of legalised abortion. It's been almost like a CELEBRATION! of all those nine million little lives lost, instead of what it really is - a shameful indictment of our so-called 'civilised' society.

And it is shameful, and it is sinful.
