Whoops! I'm not so shore now . . .

News broke today that there has been a massive leak of information from a Panamanian law company, Mossack Fonseca, which specialises in setting up (fake) companies in offshore tax havens. More than ELEVEN MILLION (!) documents, including emails, bank records, and client information dating back several decades, have been disclosed. The biggest known 'leak' ever - uncovering rampant tax evasion, money-laundering, etc.

These documents were leaked to a German newspaper over a year ago, and then passed on to the ICIJ (The International Consortium of Investigative Journalists), who has now compiled a database of the documents, available on the Internet. (So if you fancy trawling through eleven million documents - feel free!)

Already implicated in this scandal are: Fifa, President Putin, Iceland's Prime Minister, and David Cameron's dad.

This will be just the tip of the iceberg, believe you me! They'll all come creeping out of the woodwork over the next few days - just you wait . . .

And should we be surprised . . . ? After our M.P.s' expenses cheating (which, to a large extent, was just swept under the carpet) I think not.

And will there be any repercussions, I wonder? I doubt it.

It's one law for the rich, and one for the poor - the same as it's always been. The poor pay their taxes, and haven't got any money to launder! Whilst the rich and the privileged just rake it all in.

One thing that bothers me . . . Who was the 'mole' who passed on all this information in the first place? (And how long did it take for God's sake - eleven million documents . . .?) That seems an impossible task, to me.

Anyhow, if I were that 'mole' I'd be sleeping with a gun under my pillow tonight!
