WHAT IS IT THAT YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND ABOUT THE WORD 'NO'?

Nicola Sturgeon seeks support for her "Beautiful Dream" of indepence for Scotland, and has announced at the Spring Conference, that she will launch a new campaign for Scottish Independence in the summer. (After the EU Referendum.)

Not again! (Yawn . . . yawn . . . )

(And I seem to remember the September 2015, referendum being a "Once in a lifetime opportunity." Who was it who said that again? Ermmm . . . ? )

Is the SNP just going to keep on, and on, and on, pestering Scottish voters with referendums (funded, of course, by all UK taxpayers) until they get the answer they want? (Smacks of bullying tactics to me !) She said that the 'NO' voters last time around, ". . . just didn't understand the benefits of an independent Scotland." Really . . . ?

Well, let's just see how well those canny 'NO' voters did, in fact, 'understand' :-

Under the SNP's new, albeit limited powers, Scotland now has a deficit of £15 billion ! The worst figures on Scotland's finances for five years, and twice as much, proportionately, as the rest of the UK. Scotland is now in the red to the tune of 9.7% of GDP, compared to 4.9% for the rest of the UK. Yet Sturgeon is now gaily promising to:-

Hand out £100 million a year to struggling schools.

Increase NHS spending.

Pay poorer parents £1000 to help bring up their children.

Increase grants for the first child from £500 to £600, and restore maternity grants of £300 (previously axed by the Tories in 2010) for every subsequent child, plus

two new further grants of £250 per child when they start nursery, and £250 when they start school.

Extend free school lunches (already given for the first three years of primary school) to nurseries, at a cost of £40 million a year.

Increase free childcare from 16 hours per week to 30, for three and four-year-olds.

Yes, nearly all of her plans are concerning childcare and education. Very commendable. And all of the above will be achieved without putting up taxes ! (Sounds a bit fishy to me !)

If Nicola Sturgeon is elected First Minister in May, her salary will rise from £59,000 a year to £144,687 ! And she will be the highest paid politician in the UK - even higher than the Prime Minister himself !

Who voted that one in ? ? ? Nice going, Nicola !
